Wry, rather than humorous, many are less-known Jataka tales. The traditions of India, Japan, and Tibet are well represented, while China and other Buddhist-influenced countries are not. Oblique as many tales are, readers must be good interpreters, alert to implications. About the Author
Sarah Conover has long-standing interests in world religions and education. She has traveled worldwide producing numerous award-winning documentaries for PBS, the Discovery Channel and the United Nations. Ms. Conover received a BA in Religious Studies from the University of Colorado and an MFA in Creative Writing from Eastern Washington University. She presently teaches language arts at the secondary level in Spokane, Washington. Ms. Conover has been a student of Buddhism for over a decade.

There are stories in this we have read in other books (like "I Once was a Monkey" and "Buddha at Bedtime") but it is enjoyable to hear them told slightly differently. I like the writing style and delivery. There aren't many pictures and the language/story is more complex which is fine for my daughter (age 8). If your child is younger I would get Buddha at Bedtime as that is geared to a younger audience.
Love this book. Perfectly short stories to read before bed and talk about it for a few moments before tucking my girl in. I often read ahead because I enjoy the stories for myself.
Wow! This is a fantastic collection of Buddhist stories. My 6-year-old daughter and I love picking out a story or two to read and discuss each night. I've even found stories that I can use in my therapy practice.
