I bought this for my 18 month old daughter who loves animals and stickers, so this was obviously perfect for her, and she loves it. She doesn’t really put the stickers where they’re supposed to go on her own, but it’s still fun for her. It’s 48 pages of pictures, plus the stickers. I docked it one star because some of the “500” stickers are just words - and to a toddler who can’t read, those are not very exciting. The pages are thick and shiny, high quality, but I wish they were the kind that makes it easier to take the stickers off and restick them somewhere else, since she would prefer to move the stickers around.

My 18 month old son loves his Roger Priddy First 100 board books and recently started to enjoy sticker books so we purchased the first 100 animals sticker book as well as the first words and first trucks sticker books. He really does enjoy all of these books. The first half of the book has pages with animals and spots where you can match up a sticker with an animal outline, the second half of the book has scenes with a bunch of corresponding stickers that your child can decorate however they'd like. The cover says there are over 500 stickers, but keep in mind that includes one full page of small star stickers and several pages of stickers with just words. My son enjoys adding the star stickers to all of the animals almost as much as he does matching up the animal stickers in the right spot, so for me its not a big deal. What's great about these books is after all of the stickers are used, my toddler still likes going through them and sounding out animals just as he would with any other book. The stickers themselves are not meant to be reusable, but can be carefully peeled off without ripping the page. I would recommend this book.

We have been so happy with all the other Priddy sticker books, but I was disappointed by this one. Many of the stickers are words, which really was not interesting to my son (who can't read yet). If you are looking for word stickers, it is probably a very nice book for you.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. Have purchased other Priddy books before and liked them. This 1 is not worth your money. The stickers are very hard for a toddler to grip, and she ends up just ripping the paper. The stickers don't stick well at all. Most of the stickers are words that she can not read. I received this book today, and it will probably end up the trash tomorrow. So upset with this purchase.

My son is 2, and can identify almost all of the animals in this book. He started reading this at 18 months. This is our second one because the first one is torn up already. We also have the book version, but he prefers this one for some reason.I like the way it doesn’t have too much background images. I feel that background images can distract.I wish the sticker pages were separate from the book. That way when all the stickers are gone you don’t have a bunch of blank pages in the back.

My favorite was the first 100 words sticker book by Roger Priddy, but this was a good additional book. This series are easier than the Usborne series.

This is my second sticker book. It really is fun to do with my toddler when we are stuck inside. The stickers are easy to peel off and move around too. Very educational in leaning animals, numbers, spelling, counting. It can entertain and educate for hours.

I bought this for my 15 month granddaughter. It may be too old for her but I am able to do it with her and this was what I wanted. It would be better if the stickers were right next to the page you stick them on because the kids just stick them anywhere instead of looking through the pages to find where they go. The stickers are in one section and the place they stick them is in another. I would assume this would be hard to manufacture but it is something they should work towards.

The title is misleading, suggesting the book is about the structure of happiness. Familiar with some of De Botton's other works, though, I was eager to read this one too, and to learn why I am so viscerally impacted by my surroundings. I found the answer in this elegant phrase: "An ugly room can coagulate any loose suspicions as to the incompleteness of life, while a sun-lit one set with honey-coloured limestone tiles can lend support to whatever is most hopeful within us." I understand myself better through this book, and am consoled.

An enthusiast is, I think, the perfect guide to an interesting subject of which we know little. Alain de Botton is one such docent and The Architecture of Happiness is a delightful overview of the eponymous subject. This is not a history of architecture but rather a meditation upon why it matters: how it impacts our lives and affects our moods; what are the component parts that make it a success or failure? There are general observations about the classical tradition and Gothic styles and the radical break of modernism. So radical was it that even professionals had difficulty, for a time, distinguishing between engineering and architecture. The author considers all styles worthwhile and seeks out the best within them.De Botton writes beautifully and passionately with helpful photographs or renderings that compare and contrast what he is extolling or criticizing. The final two chapters ("The Virtues of Buildings" and "The Promise of a Field") are particularly fine. In them, he discusses (among other things) order, elegance, balance, and coherence. The promise of a field is a paean to the spaces we occupy that were once either uncluttered or naturally beautiful in their own right. De Botton argues that if we are going to plop down a structure in the midst of nature (which already contains natural order, elegance, and balance) let us at least make it a 'best effort'. Put thought and consideration into the process rather than just utilitarian or worse, adding another scar on the landscape. Let's make cities like Edinburgh or Bath--conceived, planned and executed with purpose, not the awful sprawl of London or Los Angeles. I couldn't agree more.Very worthwhile.

I had never read anything by Botton before picking up this one, so it was not only an architectural journey, but a stylistic one in terms of writing, as well. It starts off with pessimistic, albeit realistic views of architecture and its limits. It sounds so pessimistic in tone at first that you wonder where the book's title comes from, which draws you into it more. The ideas presented in this book are substantiated with plenty of real life proof, from Le Corbusier's mishaps to Frank Gehry's playful escapes. I wish the author would have been more direct in his language, as his ideas are not in need of pompous language to get across. I also would have liked to see at least one allusion to a work of Frank Lloyd Wright.None of the arguments in the book are earth-shattering, and they shouldn't be. De Botton's ultimate purpose of the book is to convert the "non-believers" of architecture who believe that the profession is nothing more than fanciful, unnecessary ornament. It successfully proves why we need architecture in a very gradual way: first, if you believe that who you are depends on external forces (not a very demanding concept for even the most cynical), then you can come to believe that who you are depends on where you are, followed by who you are depends on the built environment around you as much as the people in your life. After he adds this concluding link in his chain of persuasion, de Botton provides a list of five virtues that any happy structure should reflect: order, balance, elegance, coherence, and self-knowledge.

This book approaches architecture from outside the field and begins to answer questions that architects have recently forgotten to ask. (What is beauty in architecture? What is style and in which should one build?)Required reading for architects and anyone considering buying or constructing a building.

I bump into way too many people when in Manhattan. This happens because my head it tilted too far up, in awe of all the beautiful buildings, instead of head down, trying to finding the gaps in people's steps to get where I'm going faster. If you have done the same thing, or are looking to bump into more people on your next trip, you'll really enjoy this book.

de Botton always writes dense thought provoking reviews often on things we know about but don't ruminate about. So it was with his Proust book. Of course since Lehrer has told us that Proust was a neuroscientist Proust is now more widely mentioned, though probably not read. One would need to take to his bed.... The architecture of happiness in a like manner encourages one to think about how design works on us and throughout time has influenced us. It encourages us to ruminate about the things we make and see. I have given a copy to a young girl who wants to go into architecture as I believe it will widen her horizon. I highly encourage reading of this short tome and studying the pictures for any who can sit in a comfortable chair.

Giovanni Pico della Mirandola (1463 - 1494) was an Italian Renaissance philosopher who embodied the Renaissance enthusiasm for classical antiquity, zeal for the discovery of unnoticed ancient source material, and development of the problems present by the ancient masters. His belief that the "natural world... is a physical embodiment or model of philosophic and religious truth, not a mere symbol or metaphor of a supernatural order: nature actually embodies God's goodness and wisdom" (pg xii) is a cornerstone of his works. This volume contains: 'On The Dignity of Man' which emphasizes man's greatness and justification for the quest for knowledge in a neo-platonic framework, 'On Being and the One' which discloses 'the most fundamental principles of his thought' (pg xvii) and is a brief synthesis of his vast and uncompleted 'Concord of Plato and Aristotle' (not present in the volume) and the 'Heptaplus' an allegorical attempt to explain the idea that all religions worship the same God.The introduction to this volume is concise and very illuminating. It contains a brief synopsis of Giovanni Pico Della Mirandola's life, Pico Della Mirandola's works, descriptions of his vast library, the state of Renaissance Philosophy, and most importantly important information regarding the texts present in the volume for easier comprehension. The works themselves are relatively easy to follow, especially in comparison to later Medieval Philosophers such as Duns Scotus. A very worthwhile read for any even slightly interested in Renaissance Philosophy or Renaissance Intellectual history!

This book is always in print since it was printed first centuries ago. This is a hardcover, so I can read it for more centuries

This book contains three treatises by the Renaissance philosopher Pico Della Mirandola. The first "On the Dignity of Man" is basically a very flowery exposition on the utility of higher learning through the liberal arts. It is a perfectly characteristic example of the feeling throughout the Renaissance, especially as it pertains to "arts and letters". The second treatise "On Being and the One" is an attempt to harmonize the supposed dichotomous understandings of God, as being, as described through the Platonist and perennial Aristotelian schools. It's also a good read for a general understanding of God and the metaphysics of esse. The last and longest treatise contained in the book is the Heptaplus, which is a Biblical exegesis of Genesis. In some respects it is obsolete, in that Mirandola bases his interpretation upon the Ptolemaic understanding of the universe of his times, and so this plays a kind of big part in this writing. However it still sheds at least some light on some of the other of the many layers of meaning in Genesis. Either way, it is interesting as a means to understand a Renaissance Christian perspective. Throughout all the works of Mirandola is evident a high regard for philosophy and learning, for mysticism and wonder, as well as for other traditions different from his own. While he is explicit in denying syncretism, in some places it is kind of hard to accept that as sincere. Overall it is a good read for anyone interested in theology, philosophy, or even Renaissance history.

I am clearly a suspect to be a devoted fan of Pico's learnings...I would recommend this book to any epistemologist or student of history with an interest in the Renaissance intellectual explosion. Pico's concepts are remarkably aligned with some of the beliefs that aim to structure the unparalleled knowledge explosion that we live today. The volume is very accesible, and a great reference book.

Good book, it can be useful for students, who studies philosophy or history of Renaissance. It is also interesting for all people, who make researches in this area. Professional translation of original texts of Pico.

helps you understand history of the area as well as the NAVY STATION

The author did an excellent job of covering a large amount of history with good pictures and captions. It would have been a better book if the author had limited his coverage of the subject matter to say 1930 to the present.Doug Siegfried

The history of the Navy Base is very interesting, especially if you served there.

Mathematical Methods for Physics and Engineering: A Comprehensive Guide

Review

From reviews of previous editions: '...a great scientific textbook. It is a tour de force ... to write mathematical sections that are both complete and at an appropriate academic level. The authors have clearly succeeded in this challenge, making this a remarkable pedagogical book ... The choice of exercises is excellent and possibly the best feature of the book. In summary, this textbook is a great reference at undergraduate levels, particularly for those who like to teach or learn using lots of examples and exercises.' R. Botet, European Journal of Physics'... the book provides scientists who need to use the tool of mathematics for practical purposes with a single, comprehensive book. I recommend this book not only to students in physics and engineering sciences, but also to students in other fields of natural sciences.' P. Steward, Optik'... suitable as a textbook for undergraduate use ... this is a book that in view of its content and its modest softcover price, will find its way on to many bookshelves.' Nigel Steele, The Times Higher Education Supplement'Riley et al. has clear, thorough and straightforward explanations of the subjects treated. It rigorously adopts a three-stage approach throughout the book: first a heuristic, intuitive introduction, then a formal treatment, and finally one or two examples. This consistent presentation, the layout, and the print quality make the book most attractive ... and value for money. It contains a thousand pages, there are plenty of exercises with each chapter.' J. M. Thijssen, European Journal of PhysicsThis is a valuable book with great potential use in present-day university physics courses. Furthermore, the book will be useful for graduate too, and researchers will find it useful for looking up material which they have forgotten since their undergraduate days.' J. M. Thijssen, European Journal of Physics'This textbook is a well-written, modern, comprehensive, and complete collection of topics in mathematical methods ranging from a review of differential and integral calculus to group and representation theory, probability, the calculus of variations, and tensors.' Science Books and Films'This is a very comprehensive textbook suitable for most students enrolling on undergraduate degree courses in engineering. It contains 31 stand-alone chapters of mathematical methods which enable the students to understand the principles of the basic mathematical techniques and the authors have produced a clear, thorough and straightforward explanation of each subject. ... finding a single textbook which covers the engineering student's need throughout their entire course is by no means an easy task. I believe the authors have achieved it ... complete fully worked solutions ... which I think is a useful asset for both students and lecturers.' Civil Engineering' ... this highly acclaimed undergraduate textbook is suitable for teaching all the mathematics ever likely to be needed for an undergraduate course in any of the physical sciences. As well as lucid descriptions of all the topics covered and many worked examples, it contains more than 800 exercises.' L'enseignement mathematique

I wish I had the RHB (Riley, Hobson, and Bence), when I was in engineering school. Alas, I was born too early—a few decades too early. We used Kreyszig, which was good. But in my opinion, RHB's approach, style, and tone is better for the young engineering (and physics) students.

This is a wonderfully written reference for any math class. Abstract topics are explained in a manner in which Engineers easily pick them up. I went through my entire BS pretending to understand math and since we started using this book for my entry level graduate class, I ACTUALLY feel like I understand some of this stuff. If your instructor recommends this book, props to him, and lucky you!If you just like math and wound up here without being forced to buy this book, I would get it anyway because its so good.

Terrific book, one phywical problem with binding (a chapter was glued in upside down) but very clear exposition. Excellent review for applied math, machine learning, EE, physics students

Has a chapter on numerical methods. Yay!

I am a graduate student in Biochemistry with a bachelors in applied math and I wanted to go back and review a lot of math techniques before I totally forgot them. So I started looking at my old math texts and saw that for what I wanted, many of them were far to dense for a quick review. So I started searching Amazon and purchased this text along with both of Stroud's texts and I am glad I did. Stroud's texts provide easy to follow examples while Riley's text provides a more rigorous concise presentation of the topics. I find myself reading Riley's text first and if I can not quite understand the topic, I then go to Stroud's for some easier to follow examples. Fortunately, they include many of the same topics. Thus in my opinion, Riley's is a great text as a reference and for reviewing a topic if you are a little rusty. It is not a good text if you are trying to learn something for the first time or for self study.

I bought this book because I felt that in my undergraduate Chemistry education, I didn't receive enough mathematical training. As I start graduate school, this book has been helpful in seeing the bigger picture of important mathematical concepts and tools. One can really learn a lot if you take the time to read the chapters AND do the problems. It is, in my opinion, a great resource if you need a refresher on some topic, although (as the authors note) not everything can be covered in detail. My only personal wish is that there was more visual, esp. graphical, content to accompany the concepts. As a visual learner this approach really helps me. The early chapters do well, but figures become sparse in later chapters. Other than that an excellent book.

I didn't expect this book to be so huge...in size and also in the amount of info. i just received this book today and have skimmed over most of the info in it. i have already found several pages that i will photocopy and give to my child's teacher. the way that the information is presented is easy to follow, easy to locate, and easy to understand. well worth the money and time spent reading it from cover to cover.

Saw this in Barnes & Noble for $40. Got it on Amazon for $7. Great deal and very useful info.

Divine Will and Human Choice: Freedom, Contingency, and Necessity in Early Modern Reformed Thought

From the Inside Flap

"Divine Will and Human Choice exhibits all the characteristics we have come to expect from Richard Muller. Through his compelling historical argumentation and mastery of ancient, patristic, medieval, and early modern sources, Muller demonstrates that the contemporary categories of compatibilism and libertarianism fail to capture the rich and variegated approaches of early modern Reformed theologians to questions of divine and human freedom, necessity, and contingency. The result is a new perspective on Reformed orthodox teaching about God and providence with new possibilities for constructive theology."--Scott R. Swain, Reformed Theological Seminary, Orlando"At long last we have a comprehensive historical study of the Reformed understanding of divine will and human free choice in its pre-Edwardsian formulation. Muller's analysis first introduces readers to the current state of the question, focusing particularly on synchronic contingency and its variant understandings. With a close reading of primary sources--reaching back to the various receptions of Aristotelian ideas among the medievals and centering on Aquinas and Duns Scotus--Muller unpacks how early Reformed thinkers and their heirs, the Reformed orthodox, treated matters surrounding necessity, contingency, and freedom relative to the divine will. Engaging the most prominent Reformed writers, including Calvin, Zanchius, Junius, Gomarus, Twisse, Owen, Voetius, and Turretin among others, this study demonstrates how these matters have been forgotten or misapprehended in modern discussions. Muller's work amply succeeds in showing how the Reformed orthodox knit a theological garment that does not well fit the modern categories and nomenclature of incompatibilism (or libertarianism) and compatibilism, that is, an indeterminism versus a raw determinism. In doing so, this volume is destined to propel the theological discussion surrounding necessity, contingency, and human freedom for decades to come."--J. Mark Beach, Mid-America Reformed Seminary"This book provides a major reassessment of ancient and medieval antecedents of the Reformed understanding of contingency. Devoting specific attention to Aristotle, Thomas Aquinas, and John Duns Scotus, Muller highlights the eclecticism of Reformed orthodoxy. In particular, he develops a multilayered argument showing that Duns Scotus was both less of an innovator in his own day and less of a formative influence for later Reformed orthodoxy than has sometimes been suggested."--Aza Goudriaan, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam

From the Back Cover

"Few scholars possess Richard Muller's knowledge of early modern theology or his ability to analyze with precision Reformed teaching on the central question of divine and human causality. The breadth and depth of Muller's command of Reformed thought displayed in this book are unrivaled, ensuring that Divine Will and Human Choice will quickly establish itself as a must-read for all students of Protestant theology."--Bruce Gordon, Yale Divinity School"There is not a more contested area in the study of Reformed orthodoxy than issues of divine foreknowledge, human free will, and the nature of contingency. The matter is highly complicated and involves multiple questions of interpretation and reception, including how Aristotle was appropriated by medieval schoolmen, such as Aquinas and Scotus, and how the medievals were then used by the Reformed. Those new to the field can easily become overwhelmed by the sheer volume of primary literature and the confusing subtlety of the arguments. In this context, Divine Will and Human Choice is a welcome addition to the literature because it offers both the neophyte and the scholar a superb account of the various questions involved and provides judicious critiques of the contemporary debate."--Carl R. Trueman, Westminster Theological Seminary"Once again Richard Muller has provided us with an extremely careful and insightful analysis on the development of Reformed theology. He has approached the topics of freedom and necessity in Reformed thought from his extremely knowledgeable background of ancient philosophy and medieval theology. In so doing he has provided a trajectory that demonstrates that Reformed thought cannot be understood in isolation from the Western tradition as a whole. This is a superb study, and there is much to learn from this volume."--Susan Schreiner, University of Chicago Divinity School"Muller's masterful treatment of God's will and human free choice is exemplary. It clearly and accurately presents the positions held by medieval and early modern Reformed theologians rather than spinning them in favor of a preferred position or conclusion. Muller has command of both the historical and contemporary philosophical categories and positions involved in theological debates, and he fruitfully relates historic positions to current philosophical and theological debates without anachronistically treating our theological ancestors as our philosophical contemporaries."--John Cooper, Calvin Theological Seminary"Muller continues to surprise readers with fascinating news from historical sources, and this rich volume is the latest fruit of his ongoing research. His careful analysis in Divine Will and Human Choice shows that this theme remains highly relevant for church and society today. Here Muller reevaluates positions, challenges readers, and serves theology with another fine work."--Herman Selderhuis, Theological University Apeldoorn; director of Refo500

Dr. Muller provides the general public with another wonderful volume. "Divine Will and Human Choice" requires attention to detail, but the fruit of Dr. Muller's labors is vast. If the debate surrounding human choice and the divine is of interest, there is not better volume on the subject. Caveat emptor, the author employs precise theological language and a variety of terms present in the classical languages. Picking up a copy of his theological dictionary would be a helpful entry into his work.

Richard A Muller, Divine Will and Human Choice: Freedom, Contingency, and Necessity in Early Modern Reformed Thought (Grand Rapids, MI: Baker Academic, 2017). 329pp. Hardcover. $45.00.Richard Muller has gained a (deserved) reputation as one of the leading scholars of historic Reformed orthodox theology. He has, in large part, led the way in exploding historical myths, such as that of a pristine Calvinian theology that was fouled up by later Reformed writers through appropriating scholastic elements. He has done so by arguing that Reformed theologians developed their theology from Scripture through an eclectic dialogue with early church, medieval, and contemporary authors. Calvin did not single-handedly found a theological tradition. Moreover, later Reformed orthodoxy illustrates continuities and discontinuities with the Middle Ages as well as with the sixteenth-century Reformers. Such research has been useful, both in historical and contemporary theology, for a number of reasons. In this reviewer’s opinion, Muller’s primary contribution to both fields is that his work has enabled classic Reformed theology to speak more clearly with its own voice in its own context once again. Doing so has great potential to provide different options to the church today than what are current regarding both faith and practice. Divine Will and Human Choice tackles the difficult age-old question of the relationship between God’s sovereignty and human freedom. More specifically, whether and how the actions both of God and of humanity can be contingent and capable of contradictory or contrary choice. Muller treats this question with boldness, contradicting many respected historians on the subject, complexity, using uncommon scholastic terminology, and thoroughness, drawing from a wide range of primary source literature. The philosophical nature of the subject matter and the difficulty of the terminology for the uninitiated makes this work a particularly difficult read. This means that the subject matter, though profound and well argued in itself, will be rewarding to some readers and off-putting to others.Muller’s analysis is bold. In treating issues related to divine will and human freedom in Reformed orthodoxy, he simultaneously builds upon and contradicts most respected scholars in the field, including Paul Helm, Antonie Vos, Andreas Beck, Willem van Asselt, Eef Dekker, Martin Bec, and many others. His primary contention is that that early modern Reformed authors developed a “robust doctrine of creaturely contingency and human freedom,” that drew from classic scholastic distinctions, in order to uphold the sovereignty of God’s decrees, while maintaining the distinction between necessary, contingent, and free events among his creatures (34). Contra authors such as Helm, Muller argues that this meant more than simply saying that free choice is compatible with divine sovereignty, since Reformed theology taught that mankind genuinely retained the power of contrary choice and of contrariety. Contra authors such as Vos, he argues that ascribing the power of contrary choice to mankind in a given action (“synchronic contingency”) does not necessarily entail a Scotist dominance in post-Reformation Reformed theology. Nor, he adds, did using the relevant scholastic distinctions result in an ontology because the only intent behind their use was to explain the interrelationship between divine sovereignty and human freedom. Leaving aside the complexities of such assertions for the moment, modifying or rejecting the conclusions of such a stellar collection of scholars is a bold move. However, such boldness does not make Muller’s arguments wrong. The topic treated in this book can be perplexing and if anyone is qualified to refine and even correct the arguments of other scholars in this area it is Muller.Yet Muller’s book is complicated as well. This point relates the character of the “scholastic distinctions” (34) that Reformed authors employed and how Muller explains them. Roughly half of the book evaluates debated interpretations of Aristotle, Aquinas, and Duns Scotus on the issue of the nature of contingency in divine and human choices. The second half of the book illustrates the influences and uses of these concepts among Reformed authors. Understanding his work requires a working knowledge of paired terms such as synchronic vs. diachronic contingency, necessity of the consequence vs. necessity of the consequent, scientia intelligentiae simplicis vs. scientia visionis, and, especially, simultaneity of potencies vs. potency of simultaneity. Put simply, Muller never really puts these terms simply. Synchronic contingency conveys the idea that when an event comes to pass, human beings retain the power of making alternate choices. Diachronic contingency asserts that though things could have turned out otherwise according to God’s will, the event or outcome of human actions is certain as it happens in time. The first term teaches that man could have done differently as a volitional creature. The second term asserts that man could not ultimately change the outcome because his freedom of choice is a “dependent freedom.” Necessity of the consequence means that an event must come to pass when it comes to pass through a volitional being, but not by any natural or inherent necessity in the thing itself (such as choosing to sit vs. choosing to run). Necessity of the consequent is a necessity that results from the nature of a thing (such as a rock falling). Human choice is involved in the former but not in the latter. Scientia intelligentiae simplicis refers to all possibilities that could come to pass in agreement with God’s nature (corresponding to potentia absoluta) and scientia visionis refers to God’s knowledge of what he has ordained to come to pass (potentia ordinata). Simultaneity of potencies means that human beings have the power to make more than one choice in any given circumstance. Potency of simultaneity refers to the (impossible) idea that human beings have the power of performing two contrary actions at the same time. The purpose of this complex set of terms is to show how and why God, as the first cause, foreordains whatsoever comes to pass without violating the wills of his creatures or eliminating the freedom or contingency of second causes. While such concepts can be inherently taxing, this reviewer finds it easier to understand them from reading scholastic authors directly than from reading Muller’s analysis of them.In light of Muller’s reputation, it should not surprise readers that his book is thorough. Every scholar knows very little ultimately in relation to what he or she could know in his or her field of study. Research is nothing if not humbling. However, Richard Muller has read and knows more than all but a very small number of people will ever know. In spite of the work being challenging to process, it remains a wealth of information. The primary liability in this respect is that the publisher did not include a bibliography, enabling readers to follow up with sources cited. In conclusion, Muller’s book is well-research, nuanced, and insightful, but it is not for everyone. His books are always worth laboring through, but they will not help all readers. The relationship between divine sovereignty and human freedom will continue to be an important issue in both church and school. Yet Muller’s treatment of this subject, while highly important, will be inaccessible to most people. For those interested in a more straightforward and standard introduction to classic Reformed theology, his Post-Reformation Reformed Dogmatics or his two volumes published with Oxford University Press are easier entry points. Yet for those who want (or need) to understand the medieval and Reformed terminological and philosophical underpinnings of the issue treated in this present volume, Divine Will and Human Choice will likely set the standard for years to come.Ryan M.
