So my review is based on using a Samsung Galaxy S5 phone screen.Purchased Bug Eyes, All Bugged Out as an ebook to read with my nephew who LOVES bugs! This is a fun and interesting book about some of the bugs in the world. From mosquitoes to Dung Beetles, this book covers a lot of ground. The information is given in small easy to read paragraphs that were fun for my nephew to read aloud. Nicely written in a clear font, the text is easy to understand for any age. Some of these bugs, I had never heard of, so we both learned some new information!The pictures in this book, are actual photographs of each bug discussed. The photos are up close and personal with each bug, full of clear detailed views. These pictures help link the text to the actual bug, and my nephew oohed and aahed over each one, studying every detail of every picture closely. He LOVES bugs, did I mention that? These photos are amazing!Overall, this is a fun and informative book about many of the bugs found around the world. The text gives some details about each bug, and there is an accompanying picture to go along with each bug mentioned. We enjoyed reading this book, many times in the same day. My nephew could not get enough of it! Great book on bugs!I received this ebook for free or a discounted price to offer my honest opinion concerning this ebook. Bug Eyes All Bugged Out opened fine on my Kindle app for android. It was formatted fine and didn’t have any issues, although the page layout varied a bit and it was odd.The book has lots of animated pictures and some interesting bug facts. The bugs are adequately creepy and we got a lot of “Eeeew” and “neato” responses, which is what they were going for when they asked to read it I think. Some kids are bug kids, and for those kids, I think this is a neat little book. The bug facts were written above the level of my kids, and I think that for the self-readers with a beginning interest in bugs it would be too difficult, and not interesting enough for those who could easily red it. For my brood, though, who I read it with, it was the perfect book to make you itchy and wiggly!I received this book in kindle form for free in exchange for my honest review. I only review items I have used, and I assure you my review is unbiased and based on the quality of the product I received. This was a decently long read, not too long or too short. It took me about 10 minutes, which means there was plenty of content and actually interesting facts. As I sat and read this, I occasionally read some out loud for my husband because I thought they were really interesting or I never knew them before. It's good for kids learning entomology in school or just developing a passion for the creepy crawly. The language is not TOO difficult, though there are some vocabulary specific words that could use a dictionary for curious kiddos.After reading through this, I think I can use it in my ESL classrooms to teach kids around age 9-12 more complicated and themed vocabulary. It has only a few specialized words littered into otherwise very standard vocabulary, which may help kids confidently pick up new words while learning about something that isn't language at the same time. It's a good book for a short SSR (Sustained silent reading) session because it can fill up an adequate amount of time without dragging on. The pictures are beautiful.My disappointments were these:-I wish every species they pictured was labeled! The book was filled with very unique insects of all types, and I'm sure kids would love to know the name of every single one. It might even make them feel like a bug expert!-Because the pages were each artfully designed with a leaf background, the text could not be highlighted and you couldn't look up the words. With kids from age 7-10, a lot of these words may be difficult to know alone.I think this would make a beautiful book in print, and I think the publisher should consider a few minor changes and then sending it off to print!

I hate to down-rate a book based on the Kindle version, but buyers need to beware.The introduction talks glowingly about the research for the book, including the many detailed maps that were ascertained through exhaustive research, and there are dozens (over a hundred illustrations, many of which are beautiful detailed maps, carefully placed in context in the text, every couple of pages), ... but only in the print book.The Kindle book has no illustrations, no maps, ... absolutely nothing, and the story is so intertwined with them.It is a totally disheartening realization, akin to reading a story in a printed book, only to find that someone had ripped out random pages.Maybe someday Amazon will include the illustrations and maps.Until then, it's too frustrating a read to recommend the Kindle version.

We are told that the author was a civil war soldier and that certainly seems to inform his writing, which is a clear and educational exposition of Hannibal's career or as much of it that could be retrieved from history. I learned much that I did not know from his book and I shall search for an edition of his work on Alexander.The last star would be his also if Amazon would do something about the lack of maps. This is a persistent problem in Kindle books, and I do not understand it. More often than not the exclusion of maps from digital versions reduces the value of a book like this by half. Surely to make a bitmap from a printed page of graphics is child's play, and what we are purchasing is an electronic file, free to produce in infinite quantity.But the Kindle offerings are not what they used to be-an excellent source for out of print classics and the occasional gem from the classics of every genre. Now they consist largely of Amazon's vanity press contributions, most of which are literary trash.Sorry, Amazon, I usually have nothing but good things to say, but Kindle has lost its bearings by abandoning its heritage as the people's e-reader.

So utterly dedicated to his work he visited almost every battle field. he has light sketches in all his volumes, EXTREMLY EASY to get the main picture of battle and topography allowing even the most elemntary reader to learn advanced tactics and strategies.The 1st 100 pages consist of the classes ranks and types of troops involved in the volume of his general as well as the enemies of his biographies general. then siege equipment of the area, naval vessels, what separates greek from roman from phalanx to carthaginian. In his alexander volume he explains why the Macedon phalanx conquered all the greeks.He gets into how Hannibal was the son of the hired general from Carthage "Hamicular" and his sons "the lions brood" and how he instilled the hatred for romans into his bloodline. Hannibal was not at first a general, he was a Calvary officer, which is why ALL his victories included maneuvering of the Numedian. calvalry. and much more from the the fact he gives you all ancient historians account of hannibal and tells you the basics of why one is more reliable than the other.This book is what all interested Hannibal readers should be looking for, an AUTHOR AS GREAT AS HIS GENERALS.

Well written and interesting but disappointing due to descriptions. There were no maps to follow along, so you are unable to appreciate the movements of the armies. The exotic territories, towns & cities, in comparison with each other, ie, Rome & Carthage among a few, one only could guess. Most terms were not defined, even by using the "word search" in my Kindle, I could not find a definition. It would have been more enjoyable to have some words or phrases defined, along with pronunciations of names. The French in the book was not translated to English. I would have liked to know what exactly was said by Napoleon for example, referring to Hannibal's tactics.All in all it was a good read, but would have really enjoyed more information like I mentioned above.

Written in a classic, late 19th century style this history of Hannibal's invasion of Italy and decade-long domination of the southern provinces or the peninsula is eminently readable by modern readers. Dodge is clearly happy that the Roman's won the Second Punic War but as a Union Army field officer he has great esteem for and insight into the remarkable accomplishments of one of history's greatest and most successful commanders. This volume is an excellent choice for someone looking for a full description of the battles and characters of the Second Punic war in Italy. Further research since the time Dodge wrote this book have yielded more insight into the motives and accomplishments of some of the generals involved but for a good one volume study of the campaigns and strategy of Hannibal Barca I would recommend this book.

All of my family went to Auburn so after seeing Kelly Kazek mention this book on Facebook, I had to purchase it for my sister. She read the whole book at one time! The book brought back many memories of The Loveliest Village of the Plains. I'm sure she has received many more ideas for this book since she wrote it! I know several.

Salaman's book the Dictionarl of Woodworking Tools is more up to date and has better information on a wider diversity of older woodworking hand tools. W.L. Goodman's out of pint book,1978 The History of Woodworking Tools is certainly more up to date than Mercer's book on the evolution of just some woodworking tools. Mercer tries to cover the whole gauntlet of the evolution of all woodworking tools while Goodman's book only looked at only some wood working tool evolution.Despites the newer information that is available on Salamans book on the wide veriety/diversity of kind s of wood working tools and the more up to date evolution of hand tool information in Goodmans book, Mercer made a good 1st attempt at trying to look at and dealing with both types and evolution of tools. Mercer's book is worth having and some information he writes about it none the less interesting and informaative.As a tool collector and having an interest in the evolution of wood working hadn tools Mercer's book is a good one to have.What is needed now is a more up to date book of Goodman's book to fill in the gaps on many of the woodworking handtools he was unable to document in their evolution.

Good info, but a bit dry. Excellent illustrations and explanations. I use it as a reference, but I've found myself reading on and on because of the interesting material. I finally gave up and just started reading it cover to cover. Excellent resource.

I don't have the background to evaluate its accuracy, but it seems like a very credible resource. Completely fascinating.

Received this book with prime and it was in brand new condition as listed. Looking forward to using this book in class! Glad that it has color inside and is not all black and white.

Best money I have spent in a LONG time. I'm a nursing student and part of our clinical rotation was to write down our patients lab results and note on any abnormals why they were abnormal for my particular patient. This book lists out not just the normal levels, but what conditions can contribute to the high or low values. Sometimes it's pages and pages of possible reasons. This baby is a fantastic time saver for me.

This book has been a great for my clinical experience databases. I love how its easy to undersrand and gives explanations to everything (why a lab value may be high or low, if it's low or high what could be the cause). My school offers an electronic edition for free to us but I like the hard copy.

Instead of going alphabetically, the book clusters certain tests together. I must always use the index to find what I need so it can be a little frustrating at first until you get used to the book. Once you're used to it, the content is better than other labs and diagnostics books.

This book is super helpful with my nursing homework and classes. It explains everything clearly and tells exactly what I needed to know about each diagnostic & lab test. Would definitely recommend.

The online fast lab and lab dx does not work it takes you to a non working site!!! I needed access on my phone I can't carry this book around with me

Very helpful for me when writing care plans for clinical experiences. I use it to describe different lab tests, how to interpret them, and what assessments and interventions to utilize based on the reason for the lab test. It's nice to have the online resources available to me, as well. :)
