After waiting months for the release of the Catholic Journaling Bible by Our Sunday Visitor, I'm very disappointed with the product.Oh, yes, it is indeed overall quite an elegant Bible with silky smooth, creamy pages. The font style is also attractive. While the font is on the small size, I have no trouble reading it without my +2.00 Readers (in good lighting).But! Whatever possessed the publisher to produce a JOURNALING Bible with every margin RULED?! Even the back pages?!Most people who purchase a Journaling Bible do so with the intent of adding ARTwork to the pages. Ruled lines effectively ruin the finished look!Even for those who wish to just write notes in the margins, if like me, they most likely have a preference of how they prefer to write... not to follow someone else's idea of how wide to write.Another problem area... the thinness of the paper.I've included photos of ink samples of the two pens I use most for Bible Journaling (because they don't bleed thru my other Catholic Bibles)... a Muji Gel ink 0.38 & Platinum Carbon Ink EF pen.As you can see, both pens bled-thru. I even wrote with a lighter touch than normal.Obviously if one intends to do extensive writing and/or ARTwork, these pages necessitate the use of clear Gesso. I've yet to try coloured pencil, gelatos, or even acrylics. But I do know those three media do NOT bleed thru other non-Journaling RC Bibles I own.I present Bible Journaling-Illumination workshops at my parish, and I'm very hesitant to recommend this Bible to participants, which is a real shame as I was so looking forward to ordering in-bulk from the publisher to have on-hand for these events.The publisher does offer a nice 18pp "Catholic Journaling Bible How-to Guide" intro guide w/free doodle-designs, to download in .pdf format featuring this Bible on their website:http://response.osv.com/catholicjournalingbibleIf future editions of this Bible had thicker pages, margins without ruling, and the option of Leather/simulated Leather covers, then I think we Catholics would finally have the perfect Journaling Bible.Thanks for reading,-CC, Amazon Prime Member-Reviewer+JMJ+

This came in today and I am very pleased with the bible. It’s truly a beautiful bible and can’t wait to start journaling.Edited Two weeks laterAfter having use this bible, I decided to come back and make a proper review on it. It has been a wonderful journey so far. I’ve made several entries using color pencils for coloring and .25point pen to create borders and outlines. Color pencil specifically prismacolor works great creating smooth finishes every time. The only downside is I wish it is easier to bring with me everywhere. I just want to read, create entry and beautify God’s word. I feel that’s the whole point of bible journaling. The faint lines doesn’t bother me at all and the margin is just right, in fact more than enough for notes and sketches made to amplify the message God try to convey to us. I love this bible that I am waiting for next price drop to get a second one for a gift. Absolutely worth it and still five stars.

After hunting around for a Catholic Bible with wide margins which has an approved translation, the options came up limited so I decided to give the Blessed Is She Bible a chance. My summary:So things I like:--The margins of course. I can finally take notes and cross-reference! The lines don't bother me in the slightest, and I think they're a good size and keep things neat.--The front and back pages have several pages of thicker cardstock-type paper, which I like because I use those pages to tape favorite prayers, pictures, etc.--I find the footnotes to be well-written and informative. Another reviewer mentioned that some of the things said in the footnotes was problematic... I'd love to know what they're referring to and I'm keeping my eyes out for any theology that might be off.--I love the single column of text. It makes the Bible so much easier to read!Con's:--I know the quoted artwork pages are meant to be beautiful and inspiring, but for me they're more of a distraction. The thicker font bleeds through the pages making the text pages a little more difficult to read. Also, I feel like it definitely feminizes the Bible (I know, it's a "Blessed Is She" Bible), but it leaves no option for men to feel comfortable with this as a study Bible, and there aren't other options out there. I just also feel like they're too computer-generated. If each had a beautiful watercolor wreath and hand lettering, it would be nice, but I feel like they're kind of a waste of pages. Purely my opinion.--It is a heavy Bible. I mean, that makes it nice and study too, but maybe one day come up with a paperback version for those who tote their Bibles around? I'd bring it to Bible study with me (of course!), but I'm not sure I'd bring it on trips.--It's true: the font size is small for this size Bible (around the size of my pocket 6x8" Bible, I'm guessing around 9 or 9.5 font type). The good news is the notes are in a slightly larger font. It's readable, but perhaps not in dim light. That being said, I realize they only could make the font so big if they wanted a Bible with these type of margins.--It would be nice if there were some sacramental pages (i.e., my little Bible has pages to record Baptism, First Holy Communion, Marriage, Important Events, etc.) Not a big deal since I just copied them from my little Bible and taped them in, but if this were 100% a keepsake Bible to pass on, I'd want those pages. A map or two would also be nice.Overall, a great Bible and I'm excited to use it. I added tabs (also from Amazon) and put it in this beautiful carrying case I found. (It has a little wiggle room, but I like that I can carry it around, leave it places in my house and my kids won't accidentally rip pages. This book was just okay. It was not as clear and to the point as I had hoped.

I used it as a qiuick reference for the ABA Pain subspecialty exam prep with positive result. It's a very broad field and this book was written by many experts from different institutions with, most excellent, some mediocre and some inadequate expertise. Mostly good. I recommend it in your bookshelf if you are a Pain practitioner.

Has great sections on phamacology, blocks, scans and their interpretations, and treatment specifics for different cohorts (pediatrics, cancer patients, etc). A bit pricey, but good reference.

The book is straight forward. However, I miss same rare complications.Nevertheless, I would buy this book again.

A must have for any palliative care clinician
