I was hoping for a lot more photographs, since when you go to a small island, you'd like to see where you're planning to venture. Also, the book is much more about Trinidad rather than Tobago (only a small section for Tobago), so not very useful for me. If you're planning to go to Trinidad (we just fly through Port of Spain, but are spending all of our time on Tobago), then this book would be helpful in planning your trip.

The guidebook was excellent and provided me with all of the information that I needed to thoroughly enjoy my visit to the beautiful island of Tobago. Incisive referrals to restaurants that particularly suited my dietary needs, to a fantastic and unusual horseback riding experience in the sea, and to a fantastic guided birdwatching tour are just some examples of why this book is great!

The photos are lovely, and this served me well for most of the year, but if you're, say, using this calendar as a reference when trying to plan a weekend getaway for Columbus Day, you might want to plan it for the weekend before the date noted on the calendar. Or use a different calendar altogether. Canadian Thanksgiving and Columbus Day are not on October 15, but you wouldn't know that if you were using this Ansel Adams calendar. The whole point of having one is to know what's happening when. I nearly planned a trip for the wrong weekend because of this stupid thing. If I wanted pretty pictures, I would frame one. Never again, Little, Brown and Co! Next time, don't skimp on the copyediting.

The reason that I buy this calendar, year after year, is that the extra-large date boxes provide ample space for recording family medical appointments, upcoming meetings and activities, and other date-related reminders. The Ansel Adams black and white photographs are beautiful, and every year's selection is different.Each month's calendar page includes a mini-calendar for last month and next month, and indicates holidays, moon phases, and important items like daylight savings time changes. There is also an extra page for January of the upcoming year. This calendar is the same as the one sold in retail bookstores at year's end, but I like to buy it from Amazon as soon as it is offered (my 2013 calendar shipped in August), so that I can write in next year's appointments (beyond January) as soon as they are scheduled.

If you like Ansel Adams and regularly buy the annual calendar, you'll know all about the great pictures and the good amount of space for writing appointments against each day. This is usually an easy 5-star award. But this year - first time ever in over ten years of buying - the punched hole is so far in from the edge that it encroaches on the pictures themselves. Problem? Yes, if you plan hanging it on a picture hook and maybe framing and hanging any of the super prints after the year is over.

I have bought this and the Mini-Calendar for many years. This is the 2nd time the misdating of a holiday has caused me problems! October 15, 2018 is NOT Columbus Day! I booked travel far ahead assuming this, and we were all surprised each family member was expected at work instead.I communicated my displeasure last year with a religious holiday error in the Mini. I think I will have to find another "brand," but I will; miss the Ansel Adams photography each morning in my office. :(

Love these calendars; I buy one every year and never get tired of Ansel Adam's photographs. The calendar is well made, and the boxes are large enough to write everything on them that we have going on. I like that it includes the following year's January too so we don't lose track of upcoming things before the next one comes in. Loyal customer - the only calendar I buy.

I love my Ansel Adams calendar each year. It's exactly the size I need for the inside of my kitchen cabinet, it's made of beautiful, high quality paper, and it has spiral. I like the large squares for writing in my daily appointments, activities, commitments, birthdays. I like the black and white pictures because they are quietly beautiful...I don't want something colorful on that particular calendar. Too much color would distract...besides I use colored markers for my entries...that's enough color. Each year the selections are gorgeous. I order one of these each year for all those reasons. Can't beat those gorgeous black/white photos of Nature.

As an amateur photographer, I can think of no greater inspiration than seeing the Master's images on my wall every day.This is the only company, Little and Brown, authorized to use Ansel Adam's images to make a calendar. The quality of the prints, the paper, everything is superb.I'm planning to frame the images from last year.

I have bought this calendar every year for over ten years now. My husband loves black and white photography and Ansel Adams is one of his all time favorites. I have never once over all of these years been disappointed with this purchase. We are very technologically inclined people, e.g. all our appointments go on a shared calendar on our electronic devices. We don't use this to keep track of appointments it's really more of a monthly changing piece of art. However, the squares for each day are plenty big so if you are more of the traditional writing type and not so technologically inclined you will for sure love this calendar. I am happy to say I will continue to purchase this annually for my husband.

Heiner Igel, Professor of Seismology, Department of Earth and Enivronmental Sciences, Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, GermanyHeiner Igel studied geophysics in Karlsruhe and Edinburgh. He obtained his doctoral degree in 1993 from the Institut de Physique du Globe in Paris developing parallel forward and inverse modelling tools for wave propagation problems. He then moved to the Institute of Theoretical Geophysics in Cambridge, UK, where he worked on wave simulation techniques for regional and global seismic wave propagation. In 1999 he became Professor of Seismology at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich. Had to read this book when I found out it existed. Why? Because I met him and shook his hand in the early 60's when my Public School Asst. Principal brought him to my classroom in the South Bronx. Seems he was his son-in-law and his daughter's husband at the time. The names used in the book don't match my memory but the sexual magnetism was there just from the handshake if memory serves and IT WAS A LONG TIME AGO!Yeah, Joe had a tough life but many of us did in those days )we're practically the same age. However we didn't do the s*** that Joe did or behave the way he did. And I mean the kids I grew up with and who succeeded amazingly in the Bronx... Low class Sicilian Italian is what I am getting from all of this. It's 50+ years later and I am in a south Florida community with a retired branch of these folks...they haven't changed - just got older...sadly! When I got past the pages where 'Joe'( because I am convinced this was ghost written,) talked about the abuse of and his lousy behavior he exhibited towards this first wife= I just lost interest and skimmed quickly ! Too many F words and 'WOE IS ME' in there for it to have any intrinsic value really!

I found this book about the ups and downs of Joe Pepitone to be very interesting. His Italian upbringing was informative and somewhat par for the times (50's). The stories of his youth appeared to be honest and straightforward. His like/dislike for his Dad seemed blended.His rise to become a regular at 1st Base to replace "Moose" Skowron brought back fond memories of great Yankee Teams. Playing with the likes of Mantle, Berra, Ford, and Maris must have been amazing for a youthful "Pepi". The infield of Pepitone, Richardson, Kubek, and Boyer was both great defensively as well as offensively. Clearly one of the best of the times.To be placed smack dab in the middle of such fame at such a young age had to place enormous pressures on him. As the Yankee Dynasty came apart beginning in 1965 must have wrecked havoc with him emotionally.As a longtime NY Yankee Fan, one can only wonder what a Joe Pepitone who focused 100 percent on baseball could have become. I guess we will never realize how good he could have been.In closing, a good book that leaves you asking what If----?

Definitely a no holds barred account of Pepi's personal and professional life. Does take some accountability for his actions but seems to be more of a pain in the butt than ahything else especially early in his career. Tried very hard to be a non conforming character and pulls it off. Therefore, it is hard to feel real sorry for him. Would make a good movie. Seems to go out of his way to make things difficult for both himself and everyone else.The story of Dick Allen writing S-H-I-*; in the dirt is simply not true. He did write other things..I read this when it origianlly came out and forgot crazy he was. Birthday cakes will never be the same. Thanks Doug Rader.For a book to be reprointed this many years later tells you it is worth the read.

The book was interesting in that it explained how one very talented ballplayer self-destructed, wasted a promising career and hurt many lives along the way. The book was written at a very elementary level, but did keep my attention throughout.All I can say after completing the novel is,...... "What a shame."

Having grown up in this era and not exactly being a Yankee lover I still enjoyed baseball in all forms.I never knew there was this seedy side to Joe Pepitone that carried right into his later years.A good book to read whether a Yankee fan or not.Things have not changed in the sports world through the years as we see other talents of today being wasted.Joe was a perfect example of wasted talent.

I had read this book many years ago but lost the copy. When I came across this one I had to buy it and reread it. It is an irreverant look into the life of one of the most flamboyant NY Yankees. At times it is a hysterically funny book.

If you are looking for a book mainly about baseball buy something else. I have found that this book mostly deals with the sexual escapades of Pepitone. I woudn't recommend it for a true baseball fan.

This is a very good book. I've always been a fan of Joe Pepitone, still am.

Beautiful book. Could be on coffee table. Large book. Measures11& 3/8 inches long by 9 and 3/4 inches wide. Cocktails written in cursive script hand and take up whole page. Had to adjust to the "1" looking like an upside down "v". Opposite is a full page beautiful photo of drink in the correct glass. Not all directions were really clear, however, most were. On one page one ingredient is written in yellow and it was extremely difficult to read. Would make a nice gift as an arty cocktail book.

This book was a splurge for us...It isn't cheap by any means, but it is fantastic. I love that it is spiral bound and lays flat. The photography is stunning! Each recipe gets its own spread. The left page has the hand written recipe and the right has a stunning photograph of the drink. These cocktails are truly the classics. My husband has been drinking his way through this book and loving it!

I fell in love with this book at the Boston W. It was placed on a lobby table for display. Its hard cover vintage feel is what had me at hello. The product ordered stated hard cover, so I thought it would arrive resembling what I saw. It was disappointing that the cover was a soft, foamy material...cheap! Additionally, it is spiral bound, which is also not what inspired my purchase. This product does have the vintage look or feel I was hoping for.

I got this book for a friend's birthday and am now considering getting a copy for myself. It is truly beautiful - each recipe has a full page for the ingredients and the opposite page is a full-page color photo of the drink. These cocktails are a good mix between simple three-ingredient drinks to some that are a bit more complex. My friend sat flipping through the gorgeous pictures for more than an hour after she got this book. The spiral binding also is a nice touch. I highly recommend!

Current cocktail books tend to feature drinks with so many exotic ingredients that they require a trip to the grocery store; fruit market and specialty store to concoct one drink. Thankfully, this stylish book has standard drinks in GIANT type that you could see across the coffee table, bar, or counter.I purchased it for its style and sense of fun and am not disappointed. It is a great addition to my library and would be a great father's day gift; shower, wedding or hostess gift.

This book always comes out when we have friends over. The drinks are great and a classic home bar already has 80%-90% of the stuff you need to make about ever drink. Also, this is a great present for any friend.
